About Chuuurning & our methodology
Chuuurning is an independent research tool for people who use credit-card sign-up bonuses (“churning”). We exist to answer one question that most “best card” lists skip: which bonuses can you actually get, given the issuer rules that decide approvals?
How we track offers
We continuously collect credit-card offer data from multiple public sources rather than a single site, then reconcile them into one record per card. When sources disagree on a number (say, the bonus amount or minimum spend), we keep the full history and flag the conflict instead of silently picking one. Offers change often, so each card stores when its details were last observed, and superseded offers are versioned rather than deleted.
A card's identity is canonical — based on the issuer and product, never a URL — so the same card found on different sites is merged correctly instead of duplicated.
How we value rewards
To compare a 60,000-point bonus against a $500 cash bonus fairly, we convert every reward to an estimated dollar value using conservative, transparent valuations, then subtract the first-year annual fee. These are deliberately modest — real value can be higher with savvy redemptions.
| Reward type | Value used | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cash back / statement credit | $1.00 | Face value. |
| Chase Ultimate Rewards / Amex Membership Rewards | 1.5¢ | Transferable points; higher with partners. |
| Citi ThankYou Points | 1.4¢ | Transferable points. |
| Airline miles | 1.3¢ | Average across major programs. |
| Generic / fixed-value points | 1.0¢ | Conservative baseline. |
| Free hotel night | ~$150 | Per certificate, mid-tier average. |
How we apply eligibility rules
Our eligibility checker applies the issuer rules that are publicly documented by the churning community, including:
- Chase 5/24 — declines if you've opened 5+ personal cards (any bank) in 24 months.
- Amex once-per-lifetime — each card's welcome bonus is generally earned only once, ever.
- New-cardmember-only and cooldown windows (e.g. no bonus within 24–48 months).
- Application velocity rules (Amex 2/90, Citi 1/8, and similar) shown as context.
- Credit floors and minimum-spend feasibility based on what you tell us.
Limitations & honesty
Banks also use unpublished, internal criteria, so no tool can guarantee approval — treat our results as strong guidance, not a promise. Valuations are estimates, offers change daily, and you should always confirm the current terms on the issuer's own site before applying. This is information, not financial advice.
Nothing you type into the eligibility checker is stored or sent to a server — it runs entirely in your browser.
